Based on a true story, Lilac Girls is the journey of three women and their lives during WWII. Their stories cross continents from New York to Paris, Germany, and Poland.
Caroline Ferriday has her hands full with her post at the French consulate and a new love on the horizon. An ocean away from Caroline, Kasia Kuzmerick, a Polish teenager, senses her carefree youth disappearing as she is drawn deeper into her role as courier for the underground resistance movement. For the ambitious young German doctor, Herta Oberheuser, an ad for a government medical position seems her ticket out of a desolate life.
The lives of these three women are set on a collision course when the unthinkable happens and Kasia is sent to Ravensbruck, the notorious Nazi concentration camp for women.
I love reading historical fiction and this novel weaves together the lives of three women. Their stories are extremely moving and memorable, it is difficult to put this novel down.
I hope you enjoy Lilac Girls as much as I did.

“Lilac Girls is a powerful and moving debut told through the voices of three women during World War II. Caroline is a New York socialite working at the French consulate and sending care packages to French orphans. Kasia, a young Polish girl, is arrested for helping the underground resistance and sent to Ravensbruck concentration camp. Herta is the only female German surgeon stationed at Ravensbruck. The way these three women's lives intersect both during and after the war will grip you and tug at your heartstrings. I would recommend this to anyone who loved Kristin Hannah's The Nightingale.”
