About the Author
“Let the story come to you” is a tip on writing that Roger Mader was once given. This one came to his door in the form of a scrawny little gray and white cat. In wondering where she had come from, Roger wrote his first story for children, Lost Cat, and the new arrival modeled for his illustrations. A former creative director in an international advertising agency, Roger now lives in the Normandy countryside with his French wife, Martine, and Pete, the little cat who adopted them.

* "The succinct, perfectly paced text makes every carefully chosen word count. This stowaway is here to stay as a new Christmas classic." —Kirkus, STARRED review
"Mader excels at capturing the skulking movements of a curious cat, and his pastels exude a glowing warmth and softness: Slipper’s fur, Santa’s boots, and the fluffy snow all look real enough to touch. It’s a sweet, understated Christmas adventure that hums with the holiday magic that unfolds while children are nestled snug in their beds." —Publishers Weekly
"...lush, atmospheric pastel illustrations capture the endearing protagonist’s feline nature and mannerisms." —Horn Book
