I loved this book because it’s chock-full of magic, adventure, friends, and a story about people who come together to survive.

After the war between Quill and Artime is over, the gates have been left open so that people can come and go as they please. Many Quillans flee to Artime to live a more carefree life, but all is not well. Aaron Stowe is forming a rebellion to take down Artime and his twin brother, Alex.  Alex is getting prepped to help run Artime, a job he is determined not to take. While things are coming together, a mysterious raft is found floating off shore with two unconscious people aboard, and things only get stranger from there.

If you loved the first book in this series, The Unwanteds: Island of Silence Book 2 will have you begging for more.

This is another fantastic Karin Slaughter novel with returning characters, like GBI agents Will Trent and Amanda Wagner. Young women are being murdered and their bodies have the same injuries as a past case, long ago closed. Will is forced to face some things from his past he would rather leave there, and we discover how Amanda came to be who she is today. Their pasts are even more intertwined than Will first thought. Will is afraid that once his girlfriend Sara finds out where he really came from, then she won't want to have anything to do with him and he will be forever left alone.

This is a beautifully written picture book about a man who loves books and finds a place where they "nest" and he can spend his life taking care of them, fixing dog-eared pages and gluing bindings. As he takes care of the books, he is writing his own story to be passed on when he is done. The pictures accompanying the story are wonderfully done.

This story inspired the Academy Award winning short film of the same name.
